Where are ASRC products made and sourced?

The ASRC operates under an ethical engagement policy, meaning that the procurement of items must adhere to these guidelines as we recognise that poor supply chain management and poor working conditions impact upon vulnerable people.  Currently, products are made in Australia, New Zealand or China, however this is all managed through our Australian merchandise partner. Where possible, we  will always source local products. When engaging international suppliers, it's a requirement of the ASRC that all production work and factories meet strict internationally recognised standards and accords and that documentation outlining the appropriate labor conditions, sourcing of materials and workers rights can be sighted prior to the production of any merchandise items.

As our Merchandise program grows, we are looking forward to developing a framework for localised procurement and employment of people seeking asylum.

    Are artist collaborations paid?

Collaborating refugee artists receive a fair market remuneration package that recognises their time, effort and use of artistic license, including a percentage of future sales revenue. We have a commitment to ethical supply chains, for both labour rights and the environment, and this includes people being paid equitably for their work.

    Is the packaging environmentally friendly?

We are making a shift wherever possible to use environmentally friendly 'Hero Packaging' which is compostable.

    Have any prices changed?

A limited number of existing items in our shop have required a marginally increased sale price due to fluctuations in supplier costs.

How does my purchase help support people seeking asylum?

When you choose to shop with the ASRC, your purchase is one with real purpose. All profits (once expenses are paid) from the sale of merchandise goes towards supporting the greatest areas of need within the ASRC - from providing access to food, housing and healthcare through to legal advocacy, education, employment and empowerment services.  Your support will help make real and long-term change for people seeking asylum.
